TRAIN ARRANGEMENTS. TUESDAY, 23rd DECEMBER. Eyreton Branch. Special train will leave Bennetts 7.17 am., returns Kaiapoi depart 5.23 pm. THURSDAY, 29th DECEMBER. Train service will be suspended, with the following exceptions:— Lyttelton lane. Trains will leave Christchurch 6.15 a.m., 9.0, 10.0, 11.0 a m., 1.0 p.m., 2.0, 2.25, 5.0, 6.0, 6.50, 7.37, 8.30, and 9.30 pm. These trains (except the 7.37 p.m.) will stop at intermediate stations for passengers. The 6.50 p.m. and 7.37 pm. trains will run on to Ferry Wharf. Trains will return from Lyttelton 12.10 am., 9.30, 10.25, 11.25 am., 1.25 pm., 2.25, 4.10, 5.25, 6.25, 7.25, 8.35, 8.55 and 10.0 pm. Usual ferry train for Christchurch will leave Lyttelton as soon as passengers are seated, and will stop at intermediate stations to set down passengers. North Line and Cheviot Branch. The 7.55 am. Christchurch-Parnassus and 2.32 pm. Parnassus-Christchurch trains will run, and will stop "where required to pick up or set down passengers Special passenger train will leave Waipara 9.30 am. arrive Waiau 11.2 am., connects at Waipara with the 7.55 am. Christchurch-Parnassus train. Return special train, connecting at Waipara with the 2.32 p.m. ParnassusChristchurch train, will leave Waiau 2.35 p.m. Christchurch - Dunedin - Invercargill The 8.35 a.m. Christchurch-Invercargill and 7.0 a.m. Invercargill-Lyttelton Express trains will run. The 8.40 am. and 9.5 am. DunedinChristchurch and 9.10 am. and 12.25 p.m. Christchurch-Dunedin Mail and Express trains will run. The usual 11.2 p.m. Christchurch-In-vercargill and 11.20 p.m. DunedinChristchurch (24th)* night express trains will run.

Ashburton-Dunedin. Special train (ex Christchurch on 24th December) will leave Ashburton for Dunedin at 12.14 am.

Ashburton-Christchurch. Special passenger train (ex Dunedin 24th December) leaves Ashburton 5.27 a.m. arrives Christchurch 7.12 a.m. The 8.15 a.m. Ashburton-Christchurch and the 5.5 p.m. Christchurch-Ashburton trains will Christchurch-Little River. Electric car will leave Christchurch for Little River at 8.0 am. and return leaving Little River 9.18 a.m. Chris tchurch-Otira-Grcymouth. The 10.0 a.m. Christchurch-Greymouth and 10.18 a.m. Greymouth-Christchurch Mail trains will run. For special stops see Free Booklet. Train for motor-cars will leave Springfield for Otira at 9.15 a.m. and Otira for Springfield at 11.25 a.m. FRIDAY, 26th DECEMBER. Excursion to Stewart’s Gully. 1 Gala at Kairaki Beach (Kaiapoi). Gala at Waikuku Beach (Rangiora). Sports at Oxford and Doylestoil. Trotting Races at Ashburton. Lyttelton Line. Usual 6.49 a.m. Lyt-telton-Christchurch train will NOT run. Special trains will leave Christchurch for Lyttelton 9.20 a.m., 9.45, 10.35 a.m. and 4.20 p.m., and Lyttelton for Christchurch 9.45 a.m., 10.6, 11.0 a.m., 4.45 p.m. and 6.45 p.m. If the weather be unfavourable the above trains will NOT run. Special train will leave Christchurch for Lyttelton at 11.45 p.m. North Line, Eyreton, Oxford and Cheviot Branches. Usual timetable will be suspended, and only the following trains will run:— 7.55 a.m. Christchurch to Parnassus. 9.15 a.m. Christchurch to Waiau. 9.35 a.m. Special Passenger Christchurch to Rangiora. 12.10 p.m. Christchurch to Rangiora. 5.17 p.m. Christchurch to Waikari. 6.33 p.m. Rangiora to Oxford West. 11.5 p.m. Christchurch to Rangiora. 7.17 am. Waikari to Christchurch. <.40 am. and 1.20 p.m. Rangiora to Christchurch. 2.32 p.m. Parnassus to Christchurch. 2.38 pm. Waiau to Christchurch. Usual 7.10 a.m. Oxford West-Rangi-ora train will be a passenger train and will leave Oxford West 7.25 am. for Rangiora. Connects with usual Wai-kari-Christchurch train. Special train connecting with the 9.15 a.m. Christchurch-Waiau train will leave Rangiora for Oxford West at 10.16 a.m. arriving Oxford West 11.22 a.m. It will stop opposite Pearson Park to set down passengers. Special train, stopping where required for passengers also at Stewart’s Gully to set down passengers will leave Christchurch 9.35 a.m., Papanui 9.56 a.m., Kaiapoi 10.23 a.m. and arrive Rangiora 10.40 a.m. Between Christchurch and Waipara the /.55 a.m. train for Parnassus will stop where required to pick up passengers for the Cheviot Branch, and after leaving Waipara the 2.32 pm. train from Parnassus in addition to usual stops will stop where required to set down passengers from Cheviot Branch stations.

The 9.15 a.m. Christchurch-Waiau and -38 p.m. Waiau-Christchurch trains will stop where required for passengers.

Stops opposite Pearson Park to pick up passengers. Special train, stopping where required for passengers, also picking up passengers at Stewart’s Gully will leave Rangiora 6.15 pm. and Stewart’s Gully 6.40 pm. for Christchurch. Sports at Doylestoil. Special Passenger train leaves Christchurch 9.25 a.m., Hornbv 9.43, Lincoln 10.5, Doyleston 10.43, Southbridge arrive 11.2 am. Special Passenger train leaves Southbridge 5.25 p.m., Doyleston 5.43, Christchurch arrive 7.7 p.m. These stop where required. Christchurch-Greymouth. The Grey-mouth-Christchurch Mail train will, from Kirwee to Sandy Knolls, stop where required for passengers, after leaving Sandy Knolls it will stop where required to set down passengers. Special passenger train, stopping where required for passengers leaves Christchurch 8.50 a.m., Rolleston 9.25, Darneld 10.2, arrives Springfield 10.35 Trotting Races at Ashburton. Special excursion tickets available for return on day of issue only will be issued from Christchurch to Ashburton on 26th December by morning trains. Special train for Ashburton and Ashburton Racecourse will leave Christchurch 9.40 am., Dunsandel 10.31. Picks up at Sockburn, Rolleston and Dunsandel only. Usual 7.10 am. Christchurch-Ashbur-ton train will leave Christchurch 7.30 a.m., Addington 7.37, Hornby 7.52, Rolleston 8.17, Dunsandel 8.46, Rakaia 9.16, Chertsey 9.26 and arrive Ashburton 9.48 am. Passengers will not be booked from Christchurch to Ashburton Races by the 8.35 a.m. and 9.10 a.m. express trains. Usual 11.10 am. Ashburton-Christ-church train will leave Ashburton 11.28 am. Bankside, Rolleston, Templeton, Hornby, Sockburn and Addington only. Passengers from Ashburton and Ashburton Racecourse for stations where the return special trains do not stop will require to travel by the 4.47 p.m. train from Ashburton. (Racecourse 4.55 pm.) or the 6.15 p.m. Ashburtom Christchurch train. Special train, taking horses and attendants to and from Ashburton Races will leave Christchurch 6.35 a.m., returning from Ashburton 6.15 pm. Should the Ashburton Races be postponed the Special trains will NOT run. Springburn Branch. Usual 4.25 p.m. train for Springburn will leave Ashburton 5.20 pm. Ashburton-Timaru. The 11.15 a.m. Ashburton-Timaru and 11.36 a.m. Timaru-Ashburton trains run. Usual 4.31 p.m. Ashburton-Timaru train will leave Ashburton 5.57 pm. Usual 4.56 pm. Timaru-Ashburton train will leave Timaru 5.30 p.m.

SATURDAY, 27th DECEMBER. Lyttelton Line. The 12.10 a.m. Lyt-telton-Christchurch train WILL run. Christchurch-Timaru. Usual 4.31 p.m. Ashburton-Timaru train will leave Ashburton 5.23 pm. Usual 7.25 am. Christchurch-Isling-ton and 12.15 p.m. Islington-Christ-church trains will NOT run. Springfield Sports. Springfield - Christchurch. Special train leaves Springfield 4.55 p.m., Springfield Domain 5.5 p.m., Christchurch arrive 7.51 p.m. The 10.0 am. Christchurch-Grey-mouth and 10.18 am. GreymouthChristchurch Mail trains will stop at Springfield Domain to set down and pick up passengers respectively. Sports at Motukarara. Special Passenger train leaves Christchurch 9.25 Motukarara arrive 10.24 a.m., returning leaving Motukarara 5.50 p.m. Usual 4.50 p.m. Christchurch-South-bridge train leaves Christchurch 525 p.m., Lincoln 6.10 (connects with 5.50 pm. train from Motukarara), Southbridge arrive 7.7 p.m. MONDAY, 29th DECEMBER. Christchurch-Greymouth. Usual 8.20 a.m. Christchurch-Greymouth and 7.40 a.m. Greymouth-Christchurch trains will NOT run between Christchurch and Otira. (The 10.0 a.m. Christchurch-Grey-mouth and 10.18 am. Greymouth-Christ-church Mail trains will run.) WEDNESDAY, 31st DECEMBER. Christchurch-Waiau Special train leaves Culverden 12.17 p.m. (after arrival of the 9.15 a.m. train from Christchurch) Waiau arrive 12.43 p.m. Returns leaving Waiau 2.38 pm. connecting with 3.7 p.m. Culverden-Christ-church train. Christchurch-Rangiora. Special train (Electric Car) leaves Christchurch 10.30 p.m., Rangiora arrive 11.22 p.m. Stops where required and at Stewart’s Gully to set down passengers. Return train leaves Rangiora 11.25 pm. Christchurch-Greymouth. Goods train with car attached for passengers leaves Christchurch 10.15 p.m., arrives Greymouth 7.31 a.m. (Ist January). After leaving Arthur’s Pass it will stop where required to set down passengers. Good train with car attached for passengers leaves Greymouth at 11.15 p.m , arrives Christchurch 8.39 am. (Ist January). After leaving Stillwater stops where required to set down passengers. Goods traffic will be suspended and goods sheds closed on 25th and 26th December and on Ist and 2nd January.
