The committee of nine members set up by the farmed s’ meeting on Wednesday, December 10, held an all-day sitting on Friday, when the present position of the farming community was dealt with exhaustively, and it was agreed to support the Dominionwide conference which will be called early in the new year to make representations to the Government as to how the present position can be relieved. It is the intention of conveners of this conference to invite organised Labour to send as many representatives as the commercial, manufacturing and farming interests. Consideration oi suitable machinery to prevent hardships being inflicted upon farmers was considered, arid will again be dealt with in the new year. The committee is asking farmers to place their position before it prior to a decision being arrived at, so that the committee may be able to know the extent and the methods necessary for relief to be given.
