LATE SOCIAL NEWS.

WEDDING. Dickson—Aldridge. At St Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Devonport, Auckland, this afternoon, the wedding took place of Mavis Bertha Dobson, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs Ernest Aldridge, 50, Carlton Mill Road, Christchurch, and granddaughter of the late Rev George Aldridge, Auckland, to Arthur James, second son of Mr and Mrs T. Dickson, of New Plymouth. The Rev W. Lawson Marsh officiated. The church was beautifully decorated for the occasion by Mrs Lowe with fragrant summer flowers in shades of palest pink, delicate mauve and white. The bride came down the floral aisle on the arm of her father, who gave her away. She wore a charming bridal gown of mother of pearl chamois which was effective in its simplicity. The bodice had long tight-fitting sleeves and was pouched slightly at the waistline,, where a fitting yoke fell into a long full skirt. Smart fish-tail train bands of the same material were placed crosswise on the skirt yoke, repeating the long lines of the gown. The bride wore her mother’s veil and orange blossom. The veil of deep cream hand-embroidered tulle was arranged softly on her head and caught in place at the back with a half-circle of orange blossom which fell into an uneven droop on one side. A beautiful sheaf of Christmas lilies was carried. Miss Joan Aldridge attended her sister and wore an ankle-length frock of palest green georgette with tightfitting bodice and full skirt finished with a deep transparent hem of green silk net. The bodice had a yoke of embroidered silk net, a bow of green tulle at the back, and silk embroidery was also to be seen at the hem. She wore a hat of green crinoline straw trimmed with a pale pink flower and velvet ribbon. Her bouquet w’as of the palest pink flowers. The bridegroom was supported by Mr W. Dickson as best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Hotel Ventnor, Devonport.
