Hr E. D. Pullon, who is attached to the honorary staff of the Christchurch Hospital, has been granted extended leave of absence in order to complete important work at Guy’s Hospital and elsewhere in London. Dr Pullon expected to sail for Auckland and Wellington on the Port Dunedin from Liverpool on December 6.

The approaching marriage of Mr C. S. M’Cully was referred to at an informal gathering of members of the Drainage Board after the meeting last night. The board’s best wishes to Mr M’Cully and his future wife were expressed on behalf of members by Mr H. G. Livingstone. Mr M’Cully suitably replied. The Governor-General has notified the Board of Governors of Canterbury Agricultural College of his approval of the nomination of Mr H. A. Knight as the recipient of the Governor-General's medal. This medal has been given by his Excellency for award each year to the ex-student of the college whose services to agriculture show that he has made the fullest use of his training at the College. Provision has been made by his Excellency for the award of the medal every year. Dr L. A. Bennett, of Christchurch, has been appointed honorary surgeon to the tuberculosis institutions of the North Canterbury Hospital Board. Dr Bennett was for two and a half years as house surgeon at the Christchurch Hospital; six months as house surgeon at each of the Paddington Green Children’s Hospital, London, and the Middlesex Hospital, London; nine months as resident medical officer to the Freemasons’ Hospital, London. From January, 1924, he was assistant medical superintendent to the Christchurch Hospital. From July, 1926, to June, 1929, he was an assistant honorary surgeon, and from July, 1929, he was a senior honorary surgeon to the Christchurch Hospital.
