PETITION FOR THE RELEASE OF SALAMAN.

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, December 8. Numerous letters and a petition signed by several hundreds of persons have been received by the Minister of Justice, seeking the release of Abraham Salaman, the Indian herbalist who was sentenced to twelve months’ imprisonment on a charge of manslaughter of a boy who was taken to him. Meetings have been held in various districts at which people have stated that they were deriving great benefit from the treatment given them by Salaman. Arrangements for consideration of the requests made for the Indian’s release are being made by the Minister.
