ITALIAN PRESS RESENT BAN.
ATTACKS MADE ON AUSTRALIAN EGOTISM. (United Press Assn.-— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received December 8, 11 a.m.) ROME, December 7. “The drama developing in Sydney is damaging people of our nationality,” says “Lavoro D’ltalia.” It adds: “These Draconian edicts are issued by Labour leaders who preach internationalism, but ostracise Italians.” The “Popolo D’ltalia” refers to Australian egotism and declares that the exclusion of Italians is immoral and inhuman in view of the fact that they were allies in the world war.
ITALIANS DECLINE TO RETURN TO ITALY
CABLE SENT ASKING MUSSOLINI FOR AID. SYDNEY. December 7. The Italians held on board the Orford refused to transfer to the Orama for return to Italy, and were carried on to Brisbane. They have cabled to Signor M,ussolini to intercede for them, and are disappointed that they have received no reply. Official opinion at Canberra considers the action in banning the entry of the Italians is fully within the law and is justified by the present industrial situation, with unemployment already so serious.
