RETAIL MARKETS SHOW SMALL ALTERATIONS
Whitebait Are Scarce; Spring Fruit Is Cheaper.
There are few alterations in the retail markets this week. Some varieties of spring fruits are becoming cheaper. Whitebait are now becoming scarcer. Meat prices are unaltered. Meat. Meat prices still remain steady, and are unlikely to rrlove for some time. Prices at present, both for beef and mutton, must be considered most reasonable. Quotations are:— Per lb. Mutton— d. Flaps from 2 Forequarters from to 51Shoulders from 5 to 7 Legs from 6 to 63 Chops from 3 to 9 Beef— Skirt steak from 5 Beefsteak ... from 6 Sirloin from 9 Ribs from 7 Gravy beef from 6 Flanks from 4 Brisket from 5 Fish. Fish are still in fairly good supply, and are unaltered in price. Whitebait are becoming dearer. The run on the West Coast is falling off. and supplies are consequently lessened. Quotations are:
