GARDEN PARTY HELD AT ELMWOOD.
There was a very large attendance at the garden party held on Saturday at Elmwood, lent by Sir Fleaton Rhodes. The preceeds were for the funds of St George’s Hospital. To many it was a great pleasure to stroll about the beautiful gardens, now at their best, and the well-kept lawns under the magnificent trees, while others, after making their purchases, enjoyed listening to the Y.AI.C.A. Band, which played selections on the terrace in front of the house. The stalls and stallholders were:— Produce, Alesdames Howard James, Kilgour Thomson, Misses Houghton, Claire, Camm, and Lesley James; sweets, Alesdames W. Webb and Oakleigh Greenwood, Alisses Edna Barrett, Rose dc Pass, Gwen Smyth, Betty Nancarrow, B. Webb, K. White, L. Af. Chapman; needlework, Alesdames J. P. Andrews, Whitehead, Ilarokl Studholme, and J. AI. Walker; cakes, Alesdames Winchester, W. Webley, J. E. Flemming, Al’Kechnie and W. Broadway; flowers, Alesdames C. Patrick, J. Pearson, W. Chapman, Alisses AI. Alorton and C. Blackmore; variety, Airs Keith Hadfield and the Alisses M’Alurray; Christmas presents, Airs J. D. Buchanan, Misses Miller, Isaacson and Boys; ice cream, Airs Pidgeon, Alisses G. Carl, Smith, Alanning, Lough and Joyce Smith. Afternoon tea was served at small tables on a sheltered lawn by Alesdames Treleaven, Beale, R. Todhunter, Saxby, Arthur Alorton, H. L. Bowker, Wilder, Fox and Alatthews, Miss Amy Bowker, and many willing helpers from St George’s staff. Airs Aleddings gave character readings and Aliss Estelle Davis sold myriads of balloons. A ifiiniature golf course under the trees was in charge of Airs Al’Killop, while Aliss Hiatt controlled croquet and scalliwags.
