BRUSSELS, December 6. On the eve of St Nicholas Day, which is celebrated like Christmas in parts of Belgium, Madame Therey, who lives with her uncle, put to bed her five children, whose ages range from seven months to six years. She lit a gas heater in order to warm the room. When she returned later to Till the Christmas stockings she found the heater extinguished and the room filled with gas. All the children were suffocated. The mother was admitted to hospital distraught, after efforts had been made to revive them.
