Buyers Keen To Get Wool.

CONTINENTAL DEMAND AT WELLINGTON GOOD. Per Press Association WELLINGTON, December 8. At the local wool sales to-day a catalogue of a little over 17,000 bales was offered. Competition on the current low range was exceedingly animated, with buying well spread—better spread than at Auckland and Wanganui. Continental competition was most pronounced as a large proportion of the offering was suitable for that trade. Bradford was interested and any lines of good to superfine crossbreds met with excellent competition. These wools and good crossbreds were fully firm on Napier prices and slightly better than those for Auckland and Wanganui. Good skirtings sold freely, Germany being the principal operator. Prices for Merinos and half-breds were on a low level. The highest price for Merino was lOd for eight bales for A Merino ewes and 9sd for A Merino and wethers. A super combing line of eleven bales made lOid and a second line 9ld, with pieces and bellies from the same clip 7d. Ordinary top making lines of halfbred and Merino sold at disappointing prices and passings were fairly heavy. The quality and condition of the wool at the sale was below the usual standard. Withdrawals before the sale were fairlv heavy. Superfine crossbreds of the American style were eagerly competed for, prices running from 6d to 7d. Good parcels of lambs brought 5d to 6d, ordinary top making 44s to 48s. Crossbreds showed no change and brought 4?d to ssd, lov. r grade crossbreds 4d to 4*d. These wools and good crossbreds were fully firm on Napier prices and slightly better than those for Auckland and Wanganui. Inferior and seedy wools sold at 3d to 3*d, ordinary bellies and pieces 2d to 3d, with the better lines at 4d to 4id. There was a full bench of buyers keen to get wool.
