GOOD COMPETITION AT LONDON SALES
PRICES MAINTAINED FOR MERINO WOOLS. CUnited Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received December 3, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, December 2. At the wool sales 10,834 bales were offered, including 2600 bales of New Zealand wool. Approximately 9800 bales were sold. There was an excellent selection of greasy Merinos suitable for all sections, a large offering of scoureds and a moderate supply of cross-breds. There was good general competition and prices were maintained. New Zealand lots sold as follows:—Greasy Merino, Connemara (lid top price), 10d average; cross-bred, JLR (7d), 65d.
Pyne, Gould, Guinness, Ltd., have received the following cablegram from London, dated December 2:—“The following are ruling prices at the moment: Merino 9d to lid a pound, 56-58 ,Bid to did, 50-56 Sd to 9d, 48-50 63d to 7Sd, 46-48 6id to 7id, 44-46 6£d to 7d, 40-44 53d to 6id. *‘ Merinos and 50-58's poor selection. The first price quoted in each case is that for average wools; the second for wools of super style and condition.”
