A meeting of the Executive of the Hospital Boards was held today, when various phases of the unemployment question wore discussed. It was mentioned that tin Government would be well advised to take steps to restrict the influx of unemployed from other countries, which might occur as a na tural result of the unemployed problem being substantially relieved in this country. The residential clause in the Unemployment Bill would have the effect, it wa; felt, of throwing the liability on ttlie hospital boards in case of in digent new arrivals and the relie ? which hospital boards hoped to ob tain under the Unemployment Ac: might thereby, to a certain extent, be cancelled.
