ALIMONY ORDER AGAINST JOCKEY.
FINANCIAL AFFAIRS OF B. DEELEY ARE DISCUSSED (Special to the “ Star.”) AUCKLAND. December 2. The financial affairs of a jockey, Benjamin Kinsman Deele.y, were discussed in the Supreme Court when his wife (divorced) proceeded against him for alimony. Deeley said he had had £3500 in the bank within the last twelve months, but he had only £2OOO now. He had drawn out £ISOO to put into the business of the Continental Fur Company. He owned three first mortgages, of a total value of £I9OO. Of the 1500 shares of the company he held 1499. He declared that he had taken no drink since he was fined some time ago for being drunk in charge of a motor-car. 'Mr Justice Smith thought the sum he ought to award for the permanent maintenance of the wife and two little girls was £4 15s per week. The decree nisi was made absolute, and custody of the children was granted to the mother, with reasonable access for the father.
