BOROUGH COUNCIL’S STAFF At last night’s meeting of the Lyttelton Borough Council it was decided that members of the council’s staff who reside outside the borough be informed that should the occasion arise, only those residing in the borough would be considered when vacancies occurred on the permanent staff. A deputation consisting of Dr Borrie and Mr Peek, representing the St John Ambulance Association, waited on the Lyttelton Borough Council last night to ask for help for the association’s building fund. On the motion of Councillor Sutton it was decided to write to the association stating that at present the council had no money to spare, but that the matter would be considered with the 'new estimates. Ladies’ Swimming Club. The Borough Council last night granted the Lyttelton Ladies’. Swimming Club the use of six dressing sheds at Corsair Bay for the swimming season. The invitation to the Mayor and councillors to be present on the opening day on December 6 was accepted. Corsair Bay. Regarding complaints about the shower bath and spring boards at Cor-, sair Bay the town -clerk was instructed by the Borough Council last evening to inform the Lyttelton Men’s Swimming Club and Mr J. Dromgoole that their complaints were being attended to; and that as the council had spent a lot of money on improving the bay for their benefit, it was only reasonable that they should help in preventing damage being done to the council’s property. Rebate on Supply. It was reported at the meeting of the Lyttelton Borough Council last evening that the Electrical Engineer of the Public Works Department had written informing the council that the Minister of Public Works had agreed to make a rebate of £54 14s 2d on the September quarter for power supplied ccount of economies exercised during the power shortage.
