EARTHQUAKE SHOCK WAS RECORDED THIS MORNING

A slight earthquake shock was recorded at the Christchurch Observatory this morning just before 323 o’clock. At Rangiora, however, a distinct shock experienced, waking many residents of the borough, although no damage was done. There the ’quake was preceded by a loud, rumbling sound, like thunder, which many people heard.
