FROM THE “ STAR ” SIXTY YEARS AGO.

ADVERTISEMENTS AND NEWS OF NOV. 30, 1870. Magistrate’s Court.—John R , for persisting in sleeping in the Warwick Hotel stables, after having been warned not to do so, was fined 10s, or in default, ordered to be imprisoned for 24 hours. Fire in City.—About a quarter to two o’clock this morning, a fire occurred in a corrugated iron building, used as stables, situated midway between Cashel and Hereford Streets. The fire being confined for some time to the building by the corrugated iron, enabled some small wooden buildings adjoining to be demolished by those who were present soon after the fire broke out. The Fire Brigade having got their engines into play, the fire was extinguished in a very short time.
