CARNERA DEFEATS SPANISH BOXER.

Primo Camera gained a points decision over Paolino after a ten round bout at Barcelona. It is officially announced that the attendance at the fight was 91,000, a European record. Though each delivered heavy blows in order to break his opponent’s defence, the r ->ntest soon degenerated into a hugging match, until the referee interfered. Nevertheless the crowd applauded every round, admiring Paolino s pluck against his bigger, younger and more skilful adversary. In the first round Camera, with three he avy blows, sent the Basque sprawling, and in the following rounds Camera easily outboxed his crudely lunging opponent. The Italian’s footwork was masterly, and Paolino, who developed wrestling tactics in the latter part of the fight, appeared to be badly mauled, though the punishment he absorbed indicated that he is made of iron. Camera weighed 270 pounds and Paolino 207 pounds. Those present represented 60 per cent of Barcelona’s available population. Mounted guardsmen discouraged gjate-crashers, and armed footguards prevented a stampede when the crowd attempted to rush the ring after the verdict had been given for Camera. A portion of the barriers were broken down and the, guards wielded drawn swords.
