MEETINGS.

North Brighton W.C.T.U. The monthly meeting of the North Brighton branch of the W.C.T.U. was held in the Baptist Church on Tuesday. Mrs S. G. Goring presided. An apology for absence was received from Miss B. M. Harband. A motion of condolence with Mr E. A. M. Leaver and relatives in the death of Mrs Leaver was passed. It was decided to hold the annual meeting and election of officers in February. It was decided to have a combined L.T.L. and Cradle Roll picnic in the Domain on December 6. Members promised to bring refreshments and prizes for the children. Mrs Lawson gave a report of L.T.L. work, which showed good progress. A good report was received from the Nortn Brighton Y branch, much good work having been accomplished during the year. Mrs A. Florance was appointed superintendent of this department. Mrs A. H. Henry was thanked for her interest and work while superintendent last year. Two children were initaited and added to Roll. Sumner P.W.M.U. Mrs W. M’Ara presided over a meeting of the Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union held in the Sumner Presbyterian Bible Class room. Mrs M’Ara reported on the annual meeting of the P.A. held last month, when Mrs J. M. Simpson was elected a vice-presi-dent for the coming year. Mrs Simpson gave an interesting account of the address given by Nurse Elliott at the annual meeting of the P.A. Mrs A. Topping read an interesting paper on the history of the Sumner branch of the P.W.M.U., which commenced on September 18, 1914. A collection to be devoted towards mission funds amounted to 14s. Afternoon tea was provided by Mrs J. M. Simpson and Mrs Smith. It was decided to hold the last meeting of the year at Mrs Langdale’s residence on December 11.
