Showman’s Case. George Carian, showman, of Riccarton (Mr Twyneham), claimed from John Duncan, horse dealer, of Christchurch (Mr Stacey) the sum of £lO 7s Gd said to be due on the sale of horses, by loan and for rent. Defendant counter-claimed the sum of £23 2s 6d alleged to be owing to him by plaintiff for feed and upkeep of horses, repairs to a window, and another small item. Judgment was given by Mr E. D. Mosley. SAL, for the sum of £4 11s for plaintiff. Claim by Assignee. Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., heard a claim brought by James Mawson Stewart, public accountant and assignee of Daniel Patrick Brosnan. farmer, of Tai Tapu (Mr Sim) against Frank Parris and J. D. M’Millan, land agents (Dr Haslam) for the sum of £sl Os Id. The statement of claim set out that by deed of assignment all Brosnan’s assets were assigned to plaintiff for the benefit of creditors. Defendants held, on behalf of Brosnan, £sl Os Id, and had refused to pay it to plaintiff on demand. Defendants counter-claimfed for an amount of £59 8s said to be balance owing on commission. Judgment was given for plaintiff on the claim for the full amount, with costs, the counter-claim being dropped.
