LIGHT CAR OWNERS WILL HOLD CONTESTS.
A meeting of light car owners was held in the rooms of the Pioneer Sports Club last evening, Mr W. F. Marsh presiding. The chairman stated that it was felt by light car owners tha~ the time was ripe for the promotion of a series of sporting competitions for light cars, and the meeting was called for the purpose of ascertaining the class of competitions required. The club, as a sports promoting body, would onl3 r be too pleased to fall in with any reasonable suggestions that might be offered. After a general discussion it was decided to recommend to the motor section of the club:—That provision be made for the inclusion of light cars in conjunction with the club’s proposed two days’ reliability trial for motor-cycles; that a motor-c\'cle and light car gymkhana be held by Ihe club early in the New Year; that two light car competitions be included in its next programme for beach races, over a two miles course, also that a road hill climb, and also a grass hill climb be held for light cars, such events to be held at not more frequent intervals than one month; that the club concentrate upon competitions for private owners as far is possible. All those present voiced ;heir opinions that the events suggested would receive large entries, and that their popularity would increase with ;ach event. It was decided to forward these recommendations on to the. Motor Committee for favourable consideration.
