CHILDREN'S FANCY DRESS CARNIVAL HELD.
i A children’s plain and fancy dress carnival was held in the St Albans school grounds on Saturday afternoon. The Municipal Band was in attendance. Prizes for fancy dresses were awarded as follow: Senior Girls.—Best fancy dr<ess—Joyce Petch (Eastern Lady) 1, Helen Forg-ie (Old English) 2. Most original dress— Edith Wooden (Bluebird) 1, Wynsome Takle (Flower Girl) 2. Best poster drops—Winnie Collins (Orange Smile) 1, Ngarie Campbell (Dyola Dyes) 2. Humorous drees—Dorothy King (Dr Happy Fat) 1, Joan Lawrey (Cat) 2. Cheapest dress—Betty Waters (Biscuits) 3, Joan Wilson (Brown Paper Dress) 2. Special prizes—Norma Clark (Hawaiian Lady), Kona Hill (Doll) and Mary Wade (Autumn). Junior Girls.—Best fancy dress— Peggy Keogh (Pale Pink Victorian) 1, Valeri l ® Owen (Shepherdess) 2. Original dress—Audrey Foster (Merry Go Round) 1, Patsy Oracie (Washing Day) 2. Best poster dress—Gweneth Riches (Westward Ho Cigarettes) 1. Constance Gascoigne (Reckitt’s Blue) 2. Humorous dress—Xoeline French (What a Corker) 1, Diiloie Edwards (Amy Johnson) 2. Cheapest dress—Pauline Hawker fXewspaper) 1, Kathleen Austin (Pyjamas) 2.
