The so-called divorce problem has had many expositions at the hands ol the dramatists and scenarists, but never before from the amazing viewpoint of “ The Divorcee,” Norma Shearer's new talking picture which is being shown at the Theatre Royal. The star, who lias a poise and beauty all hei- own, gives an intensely moving portrait of a woman whose attempt to meet the standards of a sophisticated society nearly meet with disaster. Chester Morris plays opposite Miss Shearer as the husband and Robert Montgomery and Conrad .Nagel have important parts. The “ shorts ” which precede the main picture have been well selected. There is an evening’s excitement in store for those who visit the Civic ' Theatre this week, and the reason lies in the fact that “ Bulldog Drummond," . the British talkie which had such a } successful season in Christchurch recently, is again being shown. FINAL SCREENINGS OF " SHE COULDN’T SAY NO.” The entertaining: comedy drama, *• She Couldn’t Say No," 'will receive its final screening at the St James' Theatre this evening. “ UNDER A TEXAS JCOOW.” ** Under a Texas Moon,’* claimed by critics to be the finest natural-coloured photoplay yet presented on the talking screen, is to be the big attraction commencing at the St James’ Theatre tomorrow. The scenes are exquisite, all being taken in the colours of nature. The capable cast is headed by the inimitable Frank Fay, as Don Carlos.
