BRANCH OF WOMEN’S TEMPERANCE UNION MEETS
The Christchurch branch of the W.C.T.U. met on Wednesday. Miss Henderson presided. Votes of sympathy were passed to the relatives of Mrs Lishman and Mrs Holland, wife of Canon Holland, and to the nurses of the Trained Nurses' Home in the loss of their matron. Miss Hood. Mrs T. E. Taylor, on behalf of the Kindergarten Association, thanked members who had helped with the street collection on Daffodil Day. Miss Blackwell reported that arrangements were being made to educate children in the schools during Health Week to the harm of alcohol. Mrs Glen resigned from the position of superintendent of the Cradle Roll, and Miss Goodchild was elected to fill the position. Mrs Pedler reported that a special tea was to be given shortly at the Jubilee Home. Satisfactory reports from various superintendents were then given. Members were reminded that at the next meeting Maori Day would be celebrated, when an address would lx*, given. A collection would be received for the Maori Fund.
