SALESMAN CHARGED WITH THE THEFT OF £52.

Per Press Association. PALMERSTON N., October 10. Victor Milton Rowland, aged twentysix, a salesman, was charged in the Magistrate’s Court with the theft of £52. The police stated that the accused was formerly the local manager of a firm, and afterwards a salesman. On his own account he arranged to sell a washing machine to a local resident on the hire purchase system. Later he obtained the cost of the machine from the resident. It was alleged that he retained this sum less his commission without authority. The accused pleaded not guilty, and was committed for trial.
