DETAILS OF EMPIRE GAMES TEAM’S TRIP.
Per Press Association. \\ ELLINGTON, August 26. In a letter written to Mr H. Amos three days prior to the opening of the Empire Games, Mr Rex Hobbs, manager of the New Zealand team, gives interesting details of the trip across Canada. The team travelled with the Australian team and everywhere both were welcomed with enthusiasm. Mr Ilobbs mentions that he was suffering from sciatica. They did not go out rowing at Vancouver, as Avers and Brough thought one row in a foreign boat would not do any good. On arrival at Toronto they were met by Mr Collins, New Zealand Trade Commissioner, and Professor Louden, president of the Canadian Amateur Athletic Association ; and at Hamilton by Mr Robinson. one of the principal officials of the Empire Games and the representative of the New Zealand A.A.A. in Canada.
