R.W.—South Canterbury have played otTy. three Ranfurly Shield matches. The first in 1908, when they lost to Auckland, 27-0; the second in 1920, against Wellington, lost by 32-16, and the third in 1925, when they lost to Canterbury, 29-9. Thty have not played Southland, the holder*, this year and the match is not among* the representative fixtures set down by the New Zealand Rugby Union. X-RAY.—At the Christchurch Hospital and all private hospitals the fees range from 10s 6d up to eight and nine guineas, according to requirements. Allowances are, however, sometimes made in necessitous cases.
