(Special to the “ Star.”) WELLINGTON, July 2S. During a recent visit to Christchurch the Hon H. Atmore, Minister of Education. visited Sumner, in company with Mr M'Combs, M.P., for the purpose of inspecting the School for the Deaf there. The Minister spent the whole afternoon talking to various classes and gave short addresses describing a trip made at Easter time over the Southern Alps. The children were able to follow the address by lip reading and showed a very high standard of intelligence. Realising that the education of the children would be facilitated by the introduction of a moving picture machine with films on selected subjects, the Minister has given instructions that suitable apparatus is to be supplied. The children were delighted when the Minister informed them of hia intention.
