Donations of Clothing*. In. response to an appeal made by the Rev S. Henderson on behalf of the Methodist Ladies* Guild, several sacks of clothing were collected last week and forwarded to the Rev L. B. Xenia for the Christchurch distress fund. Recently Mrs W. A. liowse forwarded *. large bundle of children s clothing to Nurse Maude, Christchurch. W.O.T.V. At the monthly meeting of 1h« Women s Christian Temperance Union, Mrs Thwaites presided. The devotion* were conducted by Mrs Robinson. Art invitation was received from the JobU Knox Women's Hulld to it meeting on. August 13, at which Mrs T. K. Taylor will he the speaker. Mrs Richards, president of the North Canterbury District Union, addressed the meeting tracing the history of the temperance movedays. Members were urged to as«isc the spring fair to be held in Christchurch in September, in aid of the Forward Movement Fund. Opportunity wßs taken to present a leather handbag to the secret a rv, Mrs A. J. Ferguson, who is shortly severing her connection with the local branch. The president, in making the presentation, eulogised trie work carried out by the secretary durtoilier\ho*good wishes of the member*. Mrs Lane and Mrs Richards also spoke. Musical items were contributed by Misses IX Ayers and K. Scott, and afternoon tea was dispensed.
