SERVICE TO BE READY BY END OF AUGUST.
Per Press Association. NAPIER, July 2S. An assurance that it would be possible for New Zealanders to talk to Australia by telephone before the end of August was given by the - Post-master-GneraJ, the Hon J. B. Donald, at the opening of the new Napier Post Office this morning. “ The rates are not yet decided on,” said Mr Donald, “ but preparations are well in hand for the institution of the trans-Tasman telephone service.” Mr Donald was presented with a gold key as a souvenir of the occasion by the Mayor (Mr J. Vigor Brown).
