Six British air liners of the latest type have been ordered by the Belgian Government for air lines in the Congo. These machines, which are known as Westland Wessex are triple-engined monoplanes, driven by three Genet Major engines, giving a total horsepower of 300. Accommodation is provided for five passengers, a pilot and navigator, and the machine, with a full load, can fly with any one of its three engines stopped. It is to be used over the long tracts of jungle, where a forced landing would be particularly unpleasant.
