WOOLSTON NOTES.
Euchre and Dance. The Bromley Football Club held a euchre and dance in the Bromley School last Saturday evening. Euchre winners were Mesdames Thomas, Steele and Sutherland, and Messrs Adcock, jun., Dryden and Huggins. Novelty dances resulted as follows: Lucky Spot foxtrot. Miss Ulrich and Mr Davenport; Monte Carlo one-step. Miss E. Melhuish and Mr Thomas. Mr O. White supplied the music, Mr R. If. Beaumont played an extra, and Mr T. Smith was M.C. Loyal Perseverance Lodge. A meeting of the Loyal Perseverance Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F., was held in the lodge room on Wednesday evening, Bro W. Le Compte, N.G., presiding. Sick benefits amounting to £ll were passed for payment. Bro T. Carlyle was authorised to obtain tenders for the repairing of the windows in the lodge room. Bro Le Compte reported on the official visit to the Phillipstown Lodge. It was decided to visit the Addington Lodge on July 21, the occasion being the official visit of the District Grand Master. Wesley Guild. The weekly meeting of the Wesley Guild was held in the schoolroom on Tuesday evening. Each member brought a question on paper, which was placed in a box, and finally all were shuffled and then distributed among the members, to be answered in the form of an impromptu speech. Personal. Friends of Stewart M’Kernan will be pleased to know that he has returned home from the hospital, and is much improved in health. St John’s Boy Scouts. The St John’s Boy Scout troop held their weekly parade on Wednesday evening. Officers in charge were Scoutmaster Stuart and Assistant Scoutmasters S. Barker and R. Beaumont. Horticultural Society. The Woolston Horticultural Society held its monthly meeting in the Library on Thursday evening. Mr M. G. Thorne was elected chairman for the ensuing year. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Sir Joseph Ward was passed. Mr A. E. Hooper was appointed trustee for the society for the year. Surprise Party. A surprise partv visited the home of Mrs M. Stow, 112, VVildberry Street. A very enjoyable evening was spent in games, competitions and dancing. Winners of the competitions were Misses E. Stow, D. Stanton, and Mr L. Snell, and of the Lucky Spot waltz Mr S. Krahagan and Miss 11. Peddie. Amongst those present were Misses G. Stanton, E. Anstiss, D. Stanton, 11. Peddie, E. Stow, and M. Stanton, and Messrs L. Snell, C. Brewer, D. Donovan, S. Krahagan, and F. Carruthers.
