EYRE COUNTY COUNCIL HAS MONTHLY MEETING

Th® monthly meeting: of the Kyre County Council was attended by Messrs 11. B. Evans (in the chair), H. A. Bennett, R. V. Dixon and F. L. Parnham. Letters were received from various owners along the old North Branch, west of Heyward's Road, that they agreed to accept the council's offer to pay half cost of cleaning the stream, and the engineer was instructed to have the matter definitely signed up and the work gone on with. The request of the Waimakariri River Trust for an additional grant towards the cost of compensation for land disturbed by the diversion of Collier’s Creek into the Cust River was reserved for further consideration. Permission was given to the engineer to send copies of his report on the saving made by road machinery to various applicants. A cheque was received from the Christchurch City Council of some £53

for the council's share of heavy traffic license fees for the previous three months. _ _ , , In reply to the Minister of Internal Aftairs regarding- regional planning areas, the council decided to recommend that the Waimakariri River should be a dividing line between Central and North Canterbury instead of having one area from the Rakaia to the Conway. The Public Works Department wrote asking for full details of the properties of all ratepayers likely to be affected by the proposed bridge at Blackraore’s .Ford at West Kyreton. Notice of motion was given that a rate of fid in the pound in the Eyre riding, £d in the pound in the West Eyreton riding and 2d in the pound for the Kaikoura channelling loan be struck.
