THEATRE ROYAL HAS CHANGE OF PROGRAMME.

It has been known for many months that Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, producers of " The Broadway Melody,” were making another big picture co-starring Bessie Love and Charles King. Public interest in this film has therefore been quickened into a state of anticipation on account of the widespread success of “ The Broadway Melody." Now the picture is here, with a real movie title, “ Chasing Rainbows.” “Chasing Raipbows,” an all-talking, singing, dancing picture, will be shown at the Theatre Royal for one week, commencing to-day, and no doubt the large army of friends made by Miss Love and Charles King will again be present to see these players make love, quarrel, make up again, sing, dance, and so on. The production is reported to be most lavishly staged, supported by a gripping story and a thousand laughs. Seven popular composers were put to work on the melodies for the stage numbers and turned out such hits as “ Love Ain’t Nothing But the Blues,” “ Lucky Me—Lovable You,” “Happy Days are Here Again,” “ Kverybody Tap ” and “My Dynamic Personality.” Sammy Lee. who directed the dancing numbers for the "Hollywood lievue,” supplied Miss Love with her tap routine, with which she leads the entire chorus in the “ K very body Tap ” number. 'He also created tbe colourful spectacles filmed in natural colours for the “ Happy Days are Here Again.” which comes as the finale of the picture. The action of the picture called for the construction of six different theatre sets and showed exterior action in as many different cities and weather conditions. Sixteen dressing rooms were built back-stage in these theatre sets with “wild” walls so that the camera and microphone might spy and eavesdrop as they caught the various occupants engaged in intimate occupations. It is said that in no other picture presentation has so much attention been paid to the beauty and composition of stage settings. The box plans are at the Bristol till noon, afterwards at the Theatre.
