MACKENZIE COUNTY COUNCIL HAS MEETING.
At the monthly meeting of the Mackenzie County Council there were present:—Messrs C. J. Talbot (chairman), W. Scott. W. T. Smith, H. H. Fisher, T. J. Seay, A. F. Campbell, F. J. Carter and G. Murray. The chairman stated that the cancer campaign had been put in hand and £IOO had alrealy been obtained. The chairman of the Finance Committee rep “ted that the debit balance at the bank was £52 10s. Mr T. P. Burnett, M.P., submitted several suggestions for eliminating level crossings oq the Fairlie railway, particularly at Albury. The chairman said the suggestions were certainly very good, but could not be considered on the grounds of expense. A suggestion was made that the traffic could be deviated under the Albury railway bridge. This was considered practicable. The engineer was instructed to inquire into the matter. It was decided to protest against the allocation of thirty-eight per cent of the heavy traffic fees to Titnaru. It was decided to ask that the whole position be re-opened. The stock inspector at Fairlie reported that the Allandale Road plantation was becoming overgrown with blackberry and sweet briar. It was decided to call tenders for cutting and burning. It was decided to take over the control of the Fallen Soldiers’ Memorial. Permission was granted the Mount Nessing Domain Board to cut down some of the trees and to plant half an acre of the Domain. The tender of Hamlyn Brothers, at £B2, was accepted for the erection of the Fraser River bridge.
