GOOD GAMES LOOKED FOR IN RUGBY LEAGUE TO-MORROW.

Addington And Linwood Expected To Provide The Brightest Display

There will be some bright games in the senior Rugby League competition to-morrow but the brightest will be that between Addington and Linwood. Marist players will pit themselves against Sydenham. Hornby are to meet Waimairi. Woolston have a bye.

Addington had a big surprise when they met Linwood shortly after the latter club was formed. Obviously, Addington had expected to romp home but they just about met their match and won only by a few points, after having to fight for it all the way through. Greater things were expected from the Linwood players after that match, but since then they have slipped. Two Saturdays ago, however, in their match with Sydenham, they proved that they were coming back to form. To-morrow the game will lie between the Addington backs and the Linwood forwards and the clash will be interesting. Linwood, however, will have to step themselves out if they are to get in a win against the second leading team and rehabilitate themselves among the stronger class. Both clubs are fielding strong teams. L. Amos, W. Stuart, the Falgar brothers and Preddie figure among the Addington backs to make a formidable combination. In the forwards Ward and Flanagan form the nucleus of a strong pack, including Brownie, Sturrock, Smith and Condon. The side will take a great deal of stopping when it gets on the move. Among the Linwood backs there are Jorgenson, Black, Withell and Priest to contend with. If they have improved in their combination and penetration tactics, they will be dangerous. With Chick behind the pack, they will get

plenty of the ball if the forwards do their work right. F. Chick, Ringdahl, Stewart and Worsfold will be making their weight felt and the result altogether should be a hard match. Other Gaines. Hornby will find little difficulty in disposing of Waimairi which up to the present has not shown signs of setting the Thames on fire. Drury, M’Kenzie, 11. A. Vivian, P. Smith and Howison form the back division, with Palamountain as full-back. The forwards are a hefty lot but will not have to extend themselves to any great degree. The Waimairi representatives will be:— J. Lynskey, E. O'Malley, A. Morwood, 11. Spencer, F. Lynskey, J. Woodham, A. Pahi, E. Spencer, D. Crowe, B. Neville, W. Lennie, R. Lynskey and R. Myers, who generally put up a good fight against odds. Marist anticipate a win over Sydenham. They are turning out a strong thirteen but will not by any means have things their own way. Sydenham, however, will have to quash individualism in their team and stop the indiscriminate kicking and weak tackling that have marred their play so far this season. Woolston will not have their usual difficulty in getting thirteen players together for the reason that they strike the bye. They may or may not take advantage of this respite to enrol a few more members. While seeing to this necessary strengthening of their ranks, they might also decide to adopt a uniform jersey.
