VICE-REGAL. The Governor-General, owing to the death of Sir Joseph Ward, has cancelled all hjs social engagements for this week. He will leave Wellington this evening for Christchurch to visit Lincoln College and will return to Wellington on Sunday i .orning. MINISTERIAL. The Hon P. A. de la Perrelle, Minister of Internal Affairs, accompanied by his daughter-in-law, Mrs Frank de la Perrelle, and his cousin, Miss P. M’Lean, passed through Christchurch to-day on their way to Invercargill. The following members of the Legislative Council arri\-ed from the north this morning:—The Hon D. Buddo, the ITon J. A. Hanan, the lion W. V 7. Snodgrass and the Hon L. M. Isitt. Messrs D. G. Sullivan, M.P., E. J. Howard, M.P* and J. A. Macpherson, M.P., were passengers from the north this morning. Father J. Price was a passenger from the north by this morning’s ferry steamer. Mr A. M. Burns arrived from the north this morning. Messrs J. 11. Stewart (Auckland), R. Cuddie (Dunedin). H. E. White and A. C. Dickson (Wellington) are guests at Warner’s Hotel. Messrs W. Jeffery (Auckland), G. Barry (Invercargill), J. R. Newnham and A. Sharpe (Wellington) are staying at the United Service Hotel. Mr C. Robinson (Wellington) is staying at the Clarendon Hotel. At a meeting of directors of Commerce Buildings, Ltd., held on Thursday, the Hon George Witty, M.L.C., , was appointed to the directorate. Air Thomas White, accountant at the Christchurch branch of the Commercial Bank of Australia, Ltd., has received notice of his appointment as manager of the Wellesley Street, Auckland. branch of the bank. Prior to his departure he was the recipient of a presentation from the Christchurch staff of the bank. Sir Francis Boys left Wellington last night for the south. Mr Guy Natusch, formerly of the Wellington “Evening Post” literary staff, has been appointed associate editor of the Sydney “Daily Guardian.” At a meeting of directors of Commerce Buildings, Ltd., held yesterday, the Hon George Witty, - M.L.C.* was appointed to the directorate. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Councillor. F. R. Cooke was passed at last -night’s meeting of the Labour Representation Committee. A motion of sympathy was passed with the relatives of the late Mr A. W. Page at a meeting of the Canterbury College Scientific Society last
