NO TRACE OF MISSING AIRMEN IS FOUND

MATTHEWS AND HOOK PRESUMED TO BE DEAD. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph-Copy right.) DELHI, July 9. Referring to the search for Messrs James Matthews and Eric Hook, who were attempting to fly to Australia, the Chief Secretary of the Government of Burma has issued the following message:— “ The Deputy Commissioner at Sandoway says that the search for Messrs Hook and Matthews is progressing, but it is practically hopeless among the uninhabited hills. No promising news has been received from any quarter. It is feared that the death of the airmen must be presumed to have occurred in the impenetrable jungle or in the sea.
