In the Police Court at Port Awanui Leslie Clive Munro, alias Roy Williams, alias Philip Neilson, 23, pleaded not guilty to a charge of committing a serious offence against a Maori girl aged 14 years and eight months. He was committed to the Supreme Court at Gisborne for trial. On two charges of theft and one charge of obtaining goods by fraud Munro was convicted and discharged.
