AUCKLAND BUSINESS. (Special to the "Star.”) AUCKLAND. July S. The Stock Exchange continues to be extremely quiet, with few completed sales to record. At this morning’s call bidding lacked animation and there were few alterations in quotations. P. and O. shares were asked for with buyers at £2 2s. A year ago this line was selling at £3. New to the local share list was the scrip of the Imperial Tobacco Company (London), for which buyers offered £5 8s for £1 shares. Mails from Home show that on May 15 the London quotation was a fraction under £5. Another new line quoted was £1 scrip of the Finance Corporation, for which 18s was offered. This is a Waikato organisation formed in association with the Co-operative Dairy Company for the financing of dairy farmers. The last dividend was 8 per cent. The proposed issue of 50,000 pref. shares was recently announced. Sanford’s ordinary shares were quoted, ex dividend, with sellers at 15s.
