BANKRUPT LABOURER MEETS HIS CREDITORS.

At a meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of Archibald John Templeman, labourer, of Ashburton, held in the Ashburton Courthouse yesterday, before the Official Assignee (Mr A. J. Ching), there was an attendance of four creditors. Bankrupt was represented by Mr L. A. Charles. The amount owing to unsecured creditors was shown as £BO 19s lid. There were no secured creditors, and no . assets. The unsecured creditors are as' follow:—Ashburton—E. C. Bathurst £9, • T. P. Barbar £7, A. Wilkie £4, J. Jordan £4, P. Dunn 16s, Kerr Bros. £4, Ashburton Mail and Guardian Company, Ltd., 19s 6d, H. Stephenson £ll, V- P. Boot £1 Is, Dr W. R. Ryburn £1 los 6d, Glossop and Timms £4 11s od, Havelock Coal Supply 6s, Mrs G. E. Hellings £2 2s 6d. Christchurch—Malmg and Co., Ltd., £l9 4s, Warre, Hockley and Co., Ltd., £2 12s 6d, Home Supply Company £8 11s 6d. In reply to questions, bankrupt said that some of his accounts had been owing for six years, but mainly through illness in his family he had been unable to pay them off. He had been out of work a good deal in that period. His father-in-law had helped keep the house going. The Official Assignee thought that bankrupt should pay something to his creditors. It was decided to leave the winding-up of the estate in the hands of the Official Assignee. Ashburton Musical Club. A meeting of the Ashburton Musical Club was held on Saturday evening, when Miss Enid Phair Thomson read a paper entitled “ New Zealand Music and Musicians,” dealing with composers who are little known to the public. Lodge Church Parade. About fifty members of the Loyal Orange Lodge assembled at the Orange Hall on Sunday afternoon on the occasion of the annual church parade. Headed by the Ashburton Pipe Band, the parade marched to St Andrew’s Hall, where the attendance was increased by members of the Ladies’ Lodge. The service was conducted by the chaplain of the lodge (Brother W J Brown). An anthem was sung b3’ the choir of St Andrew’s Church. Basket-ball Matches. No senior basket-ball matches were played on Saturday, and the most interesting match was between. Convent and Hinds. The following is the summary of the results of the matches: High School A 11, Convent Old Girls 11; Methven 8, High School B 2; Hinds 13, Convent 5; St Stephen’s 8, Technical School C 5: Kiwi A 12, Kiwi B 3; Technical School A 18, Technical School B 10. Postponed games: Hinds 14, St Stephen’s 1 ; Kiwi A 19, High School B 3; Technical School A 15, Methven G: Convent Old Girls 18. Convent 16. Misses M. Garbutt and M. Blight and Mr R. J. Thompson were referees.
