M'INTOSH SHIELD WON BY KAIAPOI BOROUGH.
A public meeting was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Kaiapoi, last night to hand over the M'lntosh Shield, which is competed for annually between the boroughs of Rangiora and Kaiapoi in various sports, Rangiora having held the shield for the past four years. The Mayor of Kaiapoi, the Rev W. H. A. Vickery, presided. He said that Kaiapoi had won the shield after striving for it for four years, and would do their best to retain it. The Mayor of Rangiora, Mr C. S Ayers presented the shield to the Mayor of Kaiapoi, and expressed admiration of the spirit that had inaugurated the competition. Although Rangiora had lost the shield, it would encourage them to greater efforts in sport to recover it. The following toasts were honoured: Rangiora Sports Bodies, Mr L. B. Evans—Mr Palairet; Donors of the Shield, Mr W. Rowse—Mr H. M’lntosh Kaiapoi ) and Mr R M’lntosh <Rnngia). Musical items we~e contributed v the Rangiora Silver Band, Miss M ~hilds, Messrs A. Hirst and H. J. M’lntosh.
