POULTRYMEN HOLD ANNUAL MEETING.
UTILITY CLUB SATISFIED WITH YEAR S OPERATIONS. The annual meeting of the Xew Zealand Utility Poultry Club was held last evening, Mr A. F. Smith presiding over a large attendance.. The financial statement showed a credit balance of £174 8s lOd, and assets exceeded liabilities by £527 3s lOd. Egg receipts were £465 Is sd, which was £96 2s lid less than that for the previous year, and the lowest amount since 1917. From 1919 to 1930 inclusive, egg receipts had averaged £592 per year. A sum of £73 had been spent on improvements to plant. Quantities of food pur chased for 400 birds were as follow: Wheat, 290 bushels: clipped oats, 175 bushels; pollard, 81 tons; oat pollard, 4* tons; wheatmeal, 1 ton 12cwt; bran. 1 ton scwt; maize-meal, 6cwt; peameal, Bcwt; shell grit, 2 1-3 tons; livers. 3355; meatmeal, 2cwt; charcoal, 2001 b; lucerne chaff, 1 sack; salt, 3cwt; straw, 2 tons. The past year was the worst the poultry industry had ever experienced, but prospects for next year were brighter than had been the case at this time in 1929. Thanks were extended to the Department of Agriculture, Messrs F. C. Brown and C. Cussen (Government Poultry Instructors), the Co-op. Poul* try Producers, Ltd., and other donors of prizes, the various committees and executive officers and members. The committee washed to urge members to attend meetings, which were held on the first Tuesda3'- of each month. The following officers were elected:— Patroness, Lady Clifford; patrons, the lion G. \V.
