FAREWELL EVENING TO REV AND MRS E. C. POWELL

A s\xrprise farewell evening was given to the Rev and Mrs E. C. Powell, by the Redcliffs members of the Sumner parish last evening. The St Andrew’s Mission Room, Redcliffs, where the farewell was held, was packed With parishioners. The Rev 11. Northcote was m the chair. Mr Northcote said that Mr Powell had done much for the parish and the people of Redcliffs were very sorry that he was leaving them. Mr Eldrirlge also spoke of Mr Powell's excellent work in the parish. Mr Northcote, cm behalf of the Redduffs members of the congregation, then presented Mr and Mrs Powell with two chairs and a rug, on which was an engraved silver shield. The Bible Class girls presented Mr Powell with a silver Eversharp pencil. Mrs Powell was presented with a bouqtiet of violets by Miss Beauchamp. During the evening piano solos were rendered by Mr Frank Wallace and Miss Townsend, songs by Mrs Thelma White, and recitations by Misses Jean Coleman and Pat Dixon. Supper was provided by the Bible Class girls.
