CAPTAIN MERCER FLIES OVER NEW BRIGHTON.

Captain Mercer, of the Canterbury Aero Club, flew this morning over Ileathcote and the Estuary territory in a Moth aeroplane. llis object was to choose a suitable landing place for passengers, both picking up and set-ting-down, also for use when new members are enrolled in the club and undertake their trial flight. Captain Mercer landed on the Spit, a hard piece of ground at the Estuary, nearly opposite Shag Rock on the northern side of the river. He examined the territory and says it is most suitable for the purpose. lie returned to Sockburn shortly after 10.30 a.rn
