NORTH BEACH HOUSE DESTROYED BY FIRE.
OCCUPANTS HAVE ’ NARROW ESCAPE. The New Brighton Fire Brigade received a call at 1.20 a.m. to-day to a fire in Palmer's Road, North Brighton. When they arrived on the scene, a fiveroomed dwelling occupied by Airs M'Grath and two daughters-was burning fiercely. The occupants had a narrow escape and failed to save any of their belongings. After a 3i hours’ battle, the fire was extinguished. A garage on the property was saved by the smart work of the brigade. The men took the short time of minutes to get away from the station after the alarm was rung. This is due to the new system of individual alarms fitted in the firemen's residences. Mr O’Neil, the driver of the engine, installed the new system, which is an idea of his own, and it works independently of Lake Coleridge power.
