A Hanmer Protest.

To the Editor. Dear Sir,—How indirectly is “Indirectly Interested” interested in the advancement of Hanmer? Did he stop, 'ere penning his letter, to balance the overwhelming disadvantages of his alternative Lewis Saddle route? Obviously not. Did he consider for a moment the terrible increase in motor fatalities; the disturbance occasioned by the rncketting of the noxious motorbike; the general litter and vandalism left in the wake of the picnic party? No, he did not. Does he imagine that the general dilapidation of the township is due merely to a policy of drift? If so, I imagine that he is only one among many holding so fallacious a view. At any cost let us discourage the tourists to our bucolic isolation.— I am, etc., R.I.P.
