ELLESMERE RIFLE ASSOCIATION MEETS.

The annual meeting of the Ellesmere Miniature Rifle Association was held on Wednesday evening in the Leeston Club’s Rooms, when the following delegates were present: Messrs H. G. Chamberlain, A. E. Brown, R. Gwatkin (Leesten), J. T. Parkin, H. R. M’Laughlan. F. Alexander "(Sedgemere-Lakeside), J. H. Hampton, J. Howatson, R. J. Parkin (Southbridge), J. E. Millar, A. Adams (Killinchy) and D. W. Hayes (secretary). The secretary presented the report and balance-sheet, the former stating that last season had been successful, five teams having competed in the first and second grade shield competitions. Details were given of the winners of the various championships. The presentation of trophies had taken place at the Leeston Club’s social. The finances showed a credit balance of £37 13s, being an increase of £4 11s 9d. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The following officers were elected: Patrons, Hon Sir R. Heaton Rhodes. M.L.C., and Mr D. Jones. M.P.; president. Mr J. T. Parkin; vice-presidents, Messrs J. Howatson, A. Adams, R. Gwatkin, and the president of the Doyleston club; secretary and treasurer, Mr D. W. Hayes; checkers, Messrs J. H. Hampton, L. Lemon, B. Maw, F. Alexander and R. Gwatkin. Mr Hayes consented to re-election as secretary upon the condition that he is relieved next year. He was elected an honorary life member in recognition of his past service. On taking the chair, the new president, Mr J. T. Parkin, moved a vote of thanks to his predecessor, which was carried. The affiliation fee for clubs was fixed at Is 6d per member. It was resolved that the competitions should consist of three rounds, to com-

mence on May 32, and that the weekly shooting night should be Monday. After discussion upon a system of controlling the sighting of rifles, it was resolved that the home team must have the range ready for shooting at eight o clock, that members of visiting teams should not be allowed to use the range before matches, and that the shooting should consist of eight shots and one compulsory sighter. It was left to the secretary to endeavour to arrange a match against Ashburton.
