MAGISTRATE BOILED IN OIL BY BANDITS.

CHINESE IRREGULARS CAPTURE YANGCHOW. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received April 2, 10.30 a.m.) SHANGHAI, April 1. Terrible atrocities are reported from Kiangsi Province, where Communist irregulars are running wild and terrorising the countryside. After capturing the town of Yangchow, 150 miles south of Hankow, Communists seized the city Magistrate and boiled him in oil. Other prominent residents were cruelly tortured, and three foreign missionaries were carried off. The Government forces appear to be inadequate to cope with the situation, so foreigners are hurriedly evacuating the affected territory.
