SMITH AND SHIERS TREKKING TO TOWN

NO WORD OF THEIR ARRIVAL AT WYNDHAM.

(United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received April 2, 9.45 a.m.) SYDNEY, April 2. All yesterday, Smith and Shiers, with the police party, trekked towards Wyndham over a hazardous track, in terrific heat, from the spot where the City of Sydney was forced down. The party had to traverse 110 miles, including many detours owing to the roughness of the territory. They travelled by truck, car and horseback, and in some places on foot.

They were expected to arrive at Wyndham at six o’clock last night, but no word of their arrival had been received in Sydney early this morning.
