ANXIOUS TO PLEAD.

When Gilbert Fowler was charged in the Traffic Court this morning with driving a car without a license he immediately pleaded guilty and added “ Guilty to cutting a corner too.” At that a smile went round the Court for the second charge was not preferred. Chief-Traffic Inspector Macintosh said defendant told them that there was a license in the car, but on investigating it was found that the license was his brother’s. Defendant: I said there was a license in the car; I did not say it was mine. The Magistrate: You told a lie. You gave the inspector information that would mislead him. Fowler was fined 10s and costs.
